Burns

If you burn yourself, rinse the affected area immediately with cool water for several minutes. All burns larger than a child's hand should be treated by a doctor. However, small burns will also need medical treatment if the burn is so deep that the skin has burnt off. Open burns are very susceptible to infection. Having cooled the burn, apply Salvemed Burn Aid, a special plaster for small burns. Having cooled larger burns, protect the area in question with a clean towel or sheet, then go immediately to a doctor or hospital. Prevent shock by transporting the patient carefully, keeping him or her warm and making sure he or she rests and has plenty to drink. NB! Never rub fat or greasy ointments into burns – they do more harm than good. Do not try to pick off any burnt bits of clothing from the injury – leave that to the doctor. Never pick at burn blisters as there is a major risk of infection.
